Today is the first day of the February Zujava challenge where I’ll be creating 28 Zujava leaves in 28 days. I decided that I’ll also be posting here each day to share my leaf and the other things I do each day. I liked doing this before but I backed off. I’ll still be doing some pure information type posts though, so don’t feel like I’m forgetting about them!
My back is recovering. It still hurts off and on but it’s very manageable. Unfortunately I managed to catch the flu so I’m still under the weather. I spent the last two days relaxing in bed, playing some video games, and doing some light work. Today I took some medicine and decided some work was getting done. I’m one of those people who stays sick for a while with something like the flu but hopefully this is a shorter one.
In week 4 of the 2013 SquidsPro Lensmaking Challenge I created a lens that won a purple star! That was exciting. It was about how to keep outdoor cats warm in the winter which was a nice topic to write about because my love of cats. You can check out some of the other lenses people finished in week 4 and join in for week 5 here.
I also started a mini challenge where I’m giving away a gift card to one of the people who manages to finish it. After only two people met the deadline I extended it but it still looks like no one else will be rising to the challenge. Hmm… do I need easier challenges next time?
I’ve also been working on lenses as part of the mini challenge. I had finished all 6 before the first deadline but decided to add more content to the other four before publishing them. (I’m not entered in the contest, that’s for you guys. I just don’t want to ask you to do something I won’t do.) It gave me a chance to try the new SquidCrafter templates a bit.
My niche for the mini challenge is theme parties. I’ll be making leaves about party games on Zujava and link the leaves/lenses together.
I’m hoping that one of these days Squidoo comes out with birthday theme with balloons or something. Until then, I’ll keep using this template.
Video Game Blog
Since my back got hurt in December I really didn’t work on my video game site and while I was sitting in bed playing League of Legends I started realizing I was failing myself when it came to that blog. I need to keep working on it. I did three things for that site.
- I changed the navigation menu up a bit.
- I created a Tumblr to connect with gamers. I can keep up on news, share funny pictures, and post when I write a new blog post or video game related lens/leaf.
- I wrote a blog post about the new League of Legends update.
The leaf I wrote wasn’t very long but it was something I found on Tumblr and went to order on Amazon. It’s an adorable Teemo hat. (Teemo is a League of Legends character.) I noticed a lot of people on Tumblr don’t know where to get the hat so I thought it was a good thing to create a page about.
The Rest of the Day
I’m still feeling pretty productive so I’m going to spend today writing up some blog posts for here and SquidsPro answering some of the questions I’ve been getting in my email. I’m also going to do some more brainstorming about my direction with my video game blog to narrow down exactly what my plan is with it.
What have you been up to lately? Are you joining the Zujava challenge?
