We hear a lot about “Shiny New Object Syndrome” when it comes to new products. I even reviewed a product about it a while back. I’ve been lucky enough to avoid getting distracted by new methods or products, but I still struggle when I start with a new project.
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably heard me talking about my new site I started with my buddy Tony, SquidsPro. I’ve always been a big fan of Squidoo and Tony is a Giant Squid over there so we decided to team up and share our knowledge with people. This means I’ve been writing for the blog, doing promotion, and working on my lenses on Squidoo itself along with my work for clients and writing PLR.
What this means for me, plain and simple, is that I got distracted. I got excited about my new project and my other projects started to suffer. I’m normally pretty good about this, but somehow I managed to get too distracted.
Getting distracted happens. It’s just part of life. What really matters is how you deal with it once you realize it has happened. I’ve outlined a little plan for me to make sure I get back on track.
- I’ll be writing a blog post for this blog every other day for a few weeks to get back into the habit, even if it is just a short blog post with a few tips.
- I’m working on some awesome Christmas PLR for PLR Content Market right now and that will be out in about two weeks. After that I’m focusing on something BIG I have planned for my shop in November.
- I pulled out my calender and labeled each day with what I will be working on. My main projects right now are my two blogs, Squidoo, my PLR shop, and Kindle. I want to make sure each gets some love each week.
- I want to get back into guest blogging. I love guest blogging because it allows me to reach new audiences. I wrote this post here for SimplySid.com earlier today and I’m hoping to line up a few more for this month.
I’m going to end this post by inviting you to check out SquidsPro if you haven’t already! Squidoo is a lot of fun and a great way to make some money without investing money or tons of time to create your own Amazon site.

I’d love to know what you do to keep yourself from getting too distracted with new projects or if you struggle with this issue yourself. Let’s work together to be more productive and stay on task!
