I Bought Blogging With John Chow + A Big Thank You!

I just to give a big thank you to everyone who left a comment on my vlog yesterday, especially Ruth who did a very helpful video response. It really helped me to move past the excuses and get back to where I need to be working on this new project. I find myself wanting to work towards getting the site up before the days I originally planned, but instead I decided to educate myself a bit more on branding and work on planning my brand for the video game site.

There are a lot of video game bloggers out there and if I want to stand out I need to plan my brand, work on my slant, and all of that. I’ve read everything from Tiffany Dow’s 30 Day Branding course that’s out so far but she’s been reviewing Blogging With John Chow and even though she isn’t done with the review it sounds like something that could help me figure out where I want to go exactly with my brand. I went ahead and picked it up.

I won’t be reviewing it because I doubt I’ll want to implement the entire course but I’ll let you know what I think of it.

Normally I’d have my vlog posted up now but I’m going to start doing my vlogs in the afternoon AFTER I’ve done my work for the day rather than before. It’ll give me more to talk about. lol

I’m still dreading the day I go looking for a good theme for my new site. I HATE theme shopping.

Again, thank you guys! You’re awesome and I appreciate each and every one of you.

  2. Amanda,

I completely understand the theme problem! It takes me DAYS when I decide to go looking for a new one. The biggest challenge is that I have a good idea of what I like but, since I have no clue how to code my own things, I have to depend on pre-made ones.

Then when I go searching, I find a good layout but it’s the wrong color. Or I like the color but I can’t do a custom header. Or I can change the color and the header but it won’t let me put my widgets where I want. It just seems like there’s always that ONE thing that’s not quite the way you want it. 🙂 here’s wishing you a really easy task of finding your perfect theme… And quickly! LOL

    • Ya, it’s tough! lol There are so many out here and I can never find one that is actually perfect! The one I’m looking at now looks okay but it’s only in white and I feel like a darker color would look better, especially in this niche.

  3. Aww Amanda,

I was hoping you were going to review Blogging with John Chow, because I picked it up after I liked how Tiffany’s blog is changing.

So I went over there and grabbed it. I hope to start my review of it this week.

Let me know what you like best about his course, Amanda. I’d really like to know. 🙂

  4. I know this is off topic but I cannot wait for the video game site:)

I am not ready to get John Chow’s product, but I have heard amazing things about him from one of my old ghostwriting clients. So I can’t wait to see how your blog changes after you have some time with his product.

Tiff also did a review that was like 58 pages so reading that is definitely on my to do list;)

    • I’ve got the site up and going with a few posts. I’ve got videos made but they’re taking so long to upload! One has been uploading for 12 hours. I need to upgrade my internet.

As for John Chow’s product, I got it because Tiff was reviewing it and seemed to like the ethics. Bad ethics are the number one reason I end up hating products. I’m glad I did. It’s perfect if you really want to get into blogging.
