I Found a Cool Plugin for Comments That I Love (Facebook + Standard Comments)

supersoYou may have noticed the comment section looks a little different. As a blogger I’ve always loved Facebook comments because it can help you get more traffic to your posts. When someone posts a comment via Facebook comments (unless they uncheck the box) it gets posted to their wall.

The thing is, as a marketer reading other blogs I hate it when I only have the choice of Facebook comments. If I’m reading a blog about Doctor Who or video games I don’t mind if my comment gets posted on my profile but when I don’t really share marketing stuff with my friends and family. That goes on my Facebook page.

I found this cool plugin that allows me to give you guys the best of both worlds. You can leave a quick Facebook comment without needing to fill out your details or click thatย bigย button to switch to standard comments. How cool is that?

It’s not technically new but I just discovered it for myself.

I love that it gives readers a choice. You’re not stuck with one or the other. I’ve noticed from my last few posts that there are a lot of people who like just using the Facebook comments because you don’t need to fill out extra info but a lot of you are liking the standard comments.

The plugin will be staying because I really like how it looks and works. I was just testing it out for the last two posts but it’s grown on me quickly!

Best part? It’s free!

I have no connection to this plugin other than really enjoying it. I just wanted to share it with you.

Thanks to Denise of Idea Cow for bringing the plugin to my attention. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. So if I use the Facebook box, the comment goes on my personal profile timeline?

Does a message precede it – like “xxx commented on xxxx’x blog post” ?

    • If you post as-is it goes on your profile. It’ll have your comment and then a link to the post. However, you can uncheck the box so it doesn’t post to a wall. You can also click “change” and switch to comment as a page which can be helpful for getting more traffic to your Facebook page. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I found the same exact plugin (I think I read the same blog post where you asked the gal what she was using) and as soon as she answered you — I went and grabbed the plugin too!

    LOVE it so far! ๐Ÿ™‚

Your commentluv doesn’t seem to be working, Amanda.

  3. I’ve seen a few sites using this plugin now, and I did wonder what it was, so thanks for sharing that. I prefer to avoid the Facebook comments because I don’t want to have my friends and my personal profile cluttered with comments that I’ve posted on blogs. I don’t share my stuff with friends unless I know it’s definitely going to benefit or interest them. That’s what my Facebook page is for. Thanks for finding a way that gives us the best of both worlds ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Amanda,

I saw this feature on Denise’s site as well. I prefer the traditional commenting and perhaps that’s because I’m spending less and less time on Facebook. I like having the remarks tied to the persons page.

Facebook can be so cluttered and mind numbing and I think when someone Googles you or finds your site by searching for someone else, it brings them directly to your page and not all the nonsense that often is found on social networks.

I don’t min leaving my info because it’s captured and saved the more you visit one’s site.

  5. That is great that you have a choice. People who do not have a blog can definitely get traffic to their facebook page. The more you share with others the more they want to know about you, so if you have 4000 Facebook friends you can share it with them and post what you read about into groups. When you make valid points they can see what you are about as well.

    • I’ve noticed a lot of people are opting for Facebook comments which is easier for them and gets me some more new traffic. The other comments are available for people who want backlinks. I really like this solution.
