Between my back injury and the upcoming new year, Taylor and I decided to mostly take the rest of the year off. About a week ago we decided that I could spend a maximum of an hour and a half working each day, including reading blogs and checking email, and we would spend the rest of the time relaxing and spending time together. We’ve got ambitious plans for 2013 so the break was very welcome! My back still hurts but I’m feeling a lot better.
My wrap-up is late but all of these were posted during the week my wrap-up was meant to cover. I found some good posts and I just don’t want you to miss them!
Be sure to read to the end. After the wrap-up I’ve got a New Year’s message for you!
I’ve got five posts for you today and a few are places I haven’t linked to before.
Drones for all and the death of voicemail among big predictions for 2013 – This one isn’t directly related to online marketing but it’s still worth a read. I love keeping up with trends. It’s not only very interesting but it can help in your business. Trends give me ideas for potential niches, PLR packs, and Squidoo lenses. There were some here I didn’t really know about and I’ve got some great ideas!
Using the Photo Dropper Plugin to Add Images to Blog Posts Fast and Easy – I use a lot of royalty free or public domain images in my blog posts. It’s free which is nice. It can get annoying going out to find them though and this blog post solved that for me. She tells us about an awesome plugin that allows you to find royalty free images from within the new post page and drop them into your post. It even takes care adding the proper attribution.
A Newbie’s Guide to Launching an Internet Marketing Business in 2013 – She captures my own feelings about my business so well. That’s one of the reasons I love Tiffany’s blog. It’s a must read if you’re new or if you’ve been trying to make money but haven’t made as much progress as you’ve hoped you would. Actually, scratch that. Everyone should read this.
6 Ways to Transform Conflict – There is a good chance you’re going to encounter conflict at some point in your business. If not, I’m sure you encounter it in life. This post had some insightful tips for helping you turn a conflict into an opportunity or learning experience.
Are We Leaving Money On The Table? – We work hard in our business and it’s frustrating when we do that work but don’t profit as much as we could have from it. Ruth talks about mistakes she’s making in her own business and got me reflecting on different ways I could improve.
Boosting Your Confidence to Provide More Writing Services – Whether you’re starting a new blog, looking to provide a writing service, wanting to expand your service, write a Kindle book… it doesn’t matter what type of writing you’re doing, you need to be confident in yourself and your abilities. It can be difficult to get to that point and I know, for me at least, it can be an ongoing struggle. Here are some awesome tips!
This one is actually something I wrote. I know… this is supposed to be a list of other people’s posts you should read, but this is more of an invitation.
2013 Lensmaking Challenge – Are You Up For It? – My partner and I are hosting a 2013 challenge with prizes and fun! The goal is for everyone to increase their number of Squidoo lenses in 2013. We decided to go for a modest goal of 1 lens a week but we’ll be having mini challenges for those who want to push harder. Throughout the year we’ll be giving out gift cards, shirts, cups, and all kinds of cool stuff. If you plan on focusing at all on Squidoo in 2013, check out the challenge!
A New Year’s Message
It’s the morning of the 31st for me. It’s the last day of 2012. A lot of people didn’t even think we would make it to today. Make the most of it! Spend some time with the people you love. Reflect on 2012 and look on to 2013. We celebrate the new year for a reason! It’s a reminder that time is passing.
In business it’s too easy to lose sight of the reasons we work online. For some it was to get away from the corporate world. For others, it was to work less. Many of you are mothers and wanted to spend more time with your children. Are you doing those things?
I challenge each and every one of you to take control of your day and really live in the moment.
Happy New Year everyone! Keep being your amazing selves.
Did you enjoy the posts I listed? Was there a post that wasn’t included but shouldn’t have? How are you spending your New Year’s? Let me know in the comments.
