Planning My Very First Info Product Release – Things You May Not Have Thought Of

Business-ChecklistWhile my fiance is busy proofreading my first ever info product, I’m busy planning the launch. There are a lot of things you don’t think about when you decide to release a product! I’ve got the ebook written, but there are a lot of other things I’m getting together. I was thinking it would be a good idea to list them, not only so I don’t forget any of them but in case you hadn’t thought of it!

  • Graphics for the minisite.

I ordered the minisite already. It was supposed to be ready this week but the designer asked for some extra time. Well, he’s the designer. I’ll give it to him if it means I’ll get a higher quality end result! Really it’s just a header and an ebook cover because I’m using Profits Theme for the sales page. I’ve got a little bit of experience with it since I set up my video game PLR mega pack. That page looks a little boring but you can add a color box around it to make it look more like your standard minisite.

  • Prelaunch freebie.

Since I’m waiting on graphics, I figured why not build a targeted list to email when my product is released? Since my product is about writing Amazon review articles, I decided to write a freebie that lists the different ways you can make money writing this type of article. I’m also discussing which are generally more profitable, which take the most work, and all of that stuff. I’ll link to some recommended resources as well but in the end my hope is that people will want to pick up my guide on writing the articles by the time they’re done reading the freebie.

I outlined it today and am writing it. It’ll be some great information if you don’t really know how to make money writing reviews. I’ll be sure to share it when it’s ready!

  • Affiliate toolbox.

I’ve never really set up an affiliate toolbox! I’m ordering a vertical banner, a horizontal banner, and two sizes of square banners. I’ll also write a swipe email and a few tweets for affiliates to use. It’s kind of exciting to be setting up affiliate tools!

  • Emailing potential affiliates.

I’m getting ready to start emailing potential affiliates about my guide. I’ve got a small list. As soon as the product is proofread I’ll be emailing out with review copies for them.

I’m still going over everything to make sure I don’t forget anything. This is so exciting but I’m still pretty nervous. lol

What progress are you making towards your first info product?

  3. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming having
a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?

I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% positive. Any suggestions or advice would
    be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    • Not really, I spent $10 a year on my domain and $10 a month on my hosting. Feel free to use the contact form to get in touch with me. I’d be happy to help you get set up!

  4. Actually, I would worry if you weren’t nervous! 🙂

Make yourself a checklist and check things off as you go. You’re pretty rehearsed in matters of Internet marketing and a launch is no different than doing a tutorial and releasing it.

You’re just using a sales letter instead of a blog post!

  5. Congrats on your launch. I’m working on putting together a webinar to introduce my product. It is slow since I am doing it in between customers. But I’m ok with that, it gives me time to learn and develop the product more. Good luck to you!

    • Nothing wrong with that! I built up my business in between freelance writing. If it hadn’t been for those clients I wouldn’t have had anything to eat along the way. lol

  6. How exciting for you, Amanda! And what a lot of work! Hope everything comes together well for you.

  7. Hi Amanda,
Great post. Thank you for sharing all this information. I’m afraid I’m not getting a lot done right now. I’ve been working on this machine for almost three days…just praying it won’t crash.

So far, so good. I think I’m okay now. It’s frustrating when you’re on a roll and something happens to the computer. I can fix this, just takes time. And, I lucked out this time. I do my own work but it’s time consuming and hoping like heck I don’t have to re-install. Enough about that.

You are amazing. This is great for me. I don’t know all the ins and outs, and it really helps to read about it in logical order. Thanks. 🙂

    • I remember one time Taylor was working on a big writing project and all of a sudden the roof sprang a leak right over his tower! It filled it with water and it was ruined. He lost all of his work and we had to go buy a PC that night so he could try not to miss his deadline. We were lucky we had just transferred money from PayPal or we would have been in a lot more trouble!

  8. Hi Amanda,

I enjoy your throughts on this post, I myself just put together my first product, I’m still developing other projects, Amanda wishing you a lot luck on your project also I hope you get a lot of sales, but I’m sure that it will be a great success.

    So Amanda until next time.
