Top Five WordPress Plugins to Encourage Social Media Shares [Guest Post]

socialmedia

It is absolutely essential for any blogger to have a blog where your readers can share your content through out their social media networks easily. People are busy and will not want to take the time to manually share your content online. However the good news is, there are free great social media plugins that bloggers can use on most platforms. If you have a self hosted WordPress blog, you can use excellent social media sharing plugins to help increase your traffic, and new readers to your blog. I will share the top 5 social media sharing plugins that I would highly recommend that bloggers take advantage of.

Really Simple Share Buttons Adder

This is a very simple social media plugin to set up and you have the option to choose which networks you want your readers to share your content on and you can decide if you want to have the share keys in only in your posts or pages.

DiggDigg

This is an awesome social media sharing plugin because you have the option of placing sharing buttons anywhere, whether it is above your posts, below your posts or even floating off to the side.

Shareaholic

This is another great social media sharing plugin. It does not feature floating sharing buttons on the side like DiggDigg does, however it offers you to choose the option of having a floating bar on top of post. This plugin offers a chart where you can see who your top sharers are and what is great about this is you can thank them for sharing or even offer them something nice to show gratitude that they share your content often. Shareaholic also has a feature where you can put your Google Analytics ID in settings where it can collect traffic information as well.

Evergreen Post Tweeter

This is an excellent plugin to have on your blog because this plugin routinely tweets out an older post and this helps bring in new traffic.

Click to Tweet

This plugin will create a link that will get out a tweet that is already pre-written. One that you must have.

Obviously it would be redundant to have all five plugins uploaded. However it is a great idea to have either Really Simple Share Buttons Adder, Shareholic or DiggDigg as well as Evergreen Post Tweeter and Click to Tweet since those two plugins serve a slightly different purpose. There is never a reason to have a shortage of readers as long as you take advantage what is out there to help increase traffic to your blog.

  2. What plugin does THIS blog use?

I’ve been using Click to Tweet and it’s okay, but I don’t like that it doesn’t shorten the link back to my post!

  3. I have been using Shareholic from the beginning but I did not know about the Evergreen Tweeter – I am installing that immediately! Thank you for this informative post!

  4. I like the idea of sharing OLDER posts because when you blog evergreen, they still apply. PLUS, newcomers to your blog haven’t read what you’ve written two years ago!

    • You can add text before the tweet so I always do something like “From the Archives:” first because I personally feel like it’s wrong to trick readers into thinking it’s a new post when it isn’t, you know?

  5. I use Shareholic as well, in fact, I’m going to go check out Click to Tweet because I’m curious what it does extra that Shareholic doesn’t use. Definitely going to get Evergreen Post Tweeter…what I great way to bring back old posts!
