Vlog #12: Forget the Haters!

Hey guys! After a long day of getting nothing done yesterday I’m back and more focused and excited than ever! Today I decided to share a bit of a secret passion with you guys. Halfway through Runty decided to interrupt but he’s adorable so I’m sure you won’t mind.

One of my close friends on Skype mentioned that my hair is always a mess in my videos and I realized that it’s a mess because I’m normally wearing a hat up until I press the record button. Well, for now on I’ll start showing off some of my awesome and silly hats! For any of my fellow silly hat fans, I’ll also show you where you can get one (when I can find it online). lol

Today’s hat is a pink Angry Birds hat. I was at Walmart today to pick up some cheesecake ingredients and I saw it in the toy section. I had never seen any pink bird merchandise so I had to have it! (Pink bird is from the Back to School game in Angry Birds Seasons and has bubble power.) Oddly enough I can’t find this hat online. It’s not on Amazon or in the official Angry Birds store. Strange! Maybe they weren’t supposed to be for sale yet? That would explain why the cashier was having trouble ringing it up.

In today’s video I talk a bit about some emails I’ve been getting and the two that made up for the emails I’ve been getting daily for nearly a week. The key here is this:

Forget the haters! Focus on the people who are actually there to learn.

I let them get to me because I was already upset about other things and it was a waste of a full day. I’m not letting that happen again. They don’t have to like me or what I do because there are people out there that DO like it. I know because of those emails. I know because of the comments I get from people who read my posts and learn both from and with me. THOSE are the people to focus on.

Thanks for being awesome!

  1. I can’t believe that there are people who actually think that they have the right to tell you what you should/shouldn’t promote or if you should/shouldn’t promote anything on YOUR blog! I’d be so mad! It’s YOUR blog!

Besides the fact that it is YOUR blog, there’s no reason that you shouldn’t try to earn a bit of money for all the time that you put into it. Your blog is filled with valuable info and I know you likely put a lot of time into it.

Don’t let the idiots get you down Amanda. You are doing great stuff and you deserve it.

Next time someone says something to you ask them how it is any different than what they do on Squidoo???

    • Exactly. They say it’s taking advantage because so much information is available for free. Well, that’s true. Sometimes it’s not about the information. It’s about how it’s presented. Sure, you could Google and read and learn and that’s wonderful, but sometimes you just want a step-by-step guide to show you what you want to know. To me it’s no different than taking a class to learn Spanish rather than trying to teach yourself online.

The haters made me lose an entire day and I won’t let that happen again! There are people out there actually learning and enjoying what I do and those are the people who are important.

  2. Don’t let people get you down, Amanda!

I learned a long time ago, it’s the people to ENVY you that make the biggest stink because they aren’t doing the things you do. It makes them feel inferior. The bigger your name gets, the more haters that follow.

Look at it this way… If you weren’t so darned good at doing what you do – people wouldn’t raise a stink. πŸ™‚ You go girl!

  4. I don’t honestly remember which Hip Hop artist said it in his rhyme but hater’s hate because they can’t replicate.

I’m coming to learn that if there isn’t someone who disagrees with me, I’m still playing it safe. As you say, you have to appeal to the people who want your help, your insights and your information.

If you could, I’d just block those email addresses or set up a filter and send them straight to the trash.

  5. I had tons of haters from Hub Pages when I was going to do a course on that – they were true idiots over there and I despised them.

Having haters just means you’re doing something right. You have to stand up for what YOU believe, period. But I know how you feel. It USED to make me feel bad, too. Now I just don’t care at ALL. Especially when so many others DO appreciate it.

You know from being on my blog that I have my fair share of haters. But look at my loyal audience – they’d walk on fire for me. THOSE people are who it’s worth standing up for what you believe for.

    Keep on being you.
